In this case study, a specialist biopesticides company engaged CPL Business Consultants to look at potential opportunities for a new biofungicide product in Europe. CPL’s detailed report made strategic recommendations on where and how to play in the European market and also included details of potential distribution and development partners which expressed interest.
The objective of this study is to assist in developing a strategy for the commercialisation of a new fungicidal product in Europe. The client has developed, in collaboration with a University, a new fungicide for which the active ingredient is made from extracts with an innovative formulation. The product had shown preventive and curative control of powdery mildew, Pythium, Rhizoctonia, Fusarium and many potential other diseases in agriculture and ornamental horticulture.
The client believed that this product had significant potential worldwide. As a first stage in developing its commercial strategy to launch this product, the client asked for information on the following:
- The crops and diseases for which the product(s) may be most suitable
- The relevant registration processes
- With which company or companies to form a partnership potential
- What is the competition from both chemicals and analogous biopesticides
And, recommendations as to:
- Which countries should have priority
- Which crops and diseases should have priority
- Which companies should have priority as partners for the registration and marketing of the product
You can see an outline of the project below.
