‘Low-carb’ trends in the US/UK
This project was to produce a power point presentation on the diet trends in the United States and the United Kingdom. The finding at the time was that the popularity of low carbohydrate diets was affecting sales of high carbohydrate foods such as bread with a corresponding reduction in profits. Sales of orange juice, potatoes and other products were also affected. We identified low-carb products and commented on the industry response through sales of products containing alternative ingredients
While the trend appeared to be peaking in the United States, it was still increasing in the UK and Europe.
