Vitafoods Europe was held in Geneva for the last time in 2024, and has moved to a new home in Barcelona from 2025.

History of Vitafoods Europe

In 1997, ten years after CPL Business Consultants was founded, Nick Hawker launched Vitafoods Europe to meet the growing demands of the emerging nutraceutical industry.  Nick believed there was a need for a dedicated exhibition and scientific conference to fill a gap in the market.

CPL Business Consultants has attended the event since the first edition. By 2019 the show welcomed more than 1,250 exhibitors and also over 25,000 visitors to the Palexpo Exhibition Hall. In 2021 it adopted a hybrid format, in-person at Palexpo and an online event running in parallel. It is now back to a purely in-person event and has relocated in 2025 to Fira Barcelona Gran Via.

Industry Trends at Vitafoods

Meet CPL Business Consultants at Vitafoods Europe 2025 and discover the latest nutraceutical ingredients and raw materials from hundreds of suppliers dedicated to ingredients. Showcased ingredients include e.g. Algae, Amino Acids, Chelated minerals, Collagen, Ginseng, Dairy ingredients, Enzymes, Glucosamine chondroitin. In our consulting work we have seen ingredients developed for human supplements move to use in pet products (part of the ‘humanisation of pet food’) and sometimes vice versa.  This year the Vitafoods Europe also includes a ‘Pet Nutrition Hub’. CPL has significant experience in animal health and nutrition and would welcome discussions on pet food at the show.

Vitafoods Europe Conference

For 2 days, the Vitafoods Europe Conference offers a programme that addresses the current challenges and explores the immediate opportunities for the nutraceutical industry, with 25 presentations in total. The venue is the Conference Theatre 4F84.

During the conference, experts from diverse areas will present solutions that are data-driven and evidence-based, latest research, ingredient insights, innovations and formulation strategies for:

  • Immune and gut health
  • Cognitive & emotional health
  • Lifelong Health

Nutrition Capital Network Europe Investor Meeting

The  Nutrition Capital Network (NCN) Europe Investor Meeting facilitates connections between high-growth nutrition companies, including consumer brands, science-backed ingredients, and enabling technologies, with opportunities for investment, licensing, and corporate partnerships.  Nutrition Capital Network (NCN) comprises a central team of founders and principals, complemented by the Selection Committee which includes CPL Business Consultant’s Managing Director, Dr Robert Harwood.

This committee plays a crucial role in assessing deal flow, mentoring companies during presentations, and facilitating interactions with investors and corporate partners. Presenting at the NCN Europe Investor Meeting allows direct engagement with venture teams from global leaders in ingredient innovation, fostering discussions on partnership, acquisition, and commercialization.  The meeting was held in collaboration with Vitafoods Europe and was scheduled for May 20, 2025, at the Vitafoods Europe event site, Floor 1, CC5/5.3.

The event includes 15 company presentations as well as presentations on industry trends, education sessions and networking opportunities. Additionally, it includes the free-to-attend Start-up Innovation Challenge held at the Vitafoods Insights Theatre, 5A2 at 14:10 on May 20 as described above.
