The objective of this project was to identify the areas with the greatest market potential for yeast and yeast products, and to give advice on how certain technologies fit with the needs of those specific market sectors. The information provided will help to formulate a marketing approach for this sector as well as draw up a list of specific companies to include in marketing efforts in this sector. The geographical scope of the project was world-wide.

The yeast business and the yeast extract (including hydrolyzed yeast) business are two distinct businesses with different dominant players. Yeast products are a third business sector that has players from a number of sectors from dietary supplements to pet food to animal feed. CPL has characterised these three business sectors in order to supply specific recommendations on how to approach these markets and details on who to consider as targets for its business development activities.

The project’s aim was to provide insight and understand relating to the technologies that are currently used, advantages and disadvantages of these technologies, unmet needs and potential areas of development and market gaps to exploit. In addition the study sought to address routes to market, barriers to entry and success factors for equipment manufacturers operating in these market categories. The report includes details of all contacts made and a list of companies within these market sectors, along with CPL’s view of how best to sell to these companies.
