H0309 Raffinose Markets in Japan and the EU

Have a look at our PowerPoint Introduction and Brochure describing deliverables, differentiators and case studies. Eight case studies can also be reviewed.

Objective

The objective of this project was to obtain information on the use of raffinose in Japan and to ascertain if there was any indication of a likely rapid increase in the quantity of raffinose consumed in Japan. A further objective of the project was to attempt to identify customers, or applications, for the small quantity of raffinose that is being sold into Europe and to estimate the time and cost of novel food approval in Europe.

Method

CPL contacted six Japanese consumers and 57 retailers and manufacturers in Japan. We also contacted eight European-based Japanese supermarkets and food manufacturers and used in-house databases and publicly information sources to identify food and cosmetic applications for raffinose.
