Objective

The objective of this project was to assist a client in examining the attractiveness of the digestive health market and the possible development of a digestive health platform by analysing the market interest in ‘digestive health’. We also sought to determine what other opportunities exist, especially in respect of beta-glucan, resistant starch and xylo-ogliosaccharides.

Method

This project involved talking to prospective end-users about the attractiveness of the idea of a digestive health platform in principle and about their ideas on what else they might like to see and examining competitor activity both in digestive health and in the marketing approach of ‘platform’ building. We also contacted academics actively involved in the digestive health area to gather their views on digestive health products. Information from contacts was combined with in-house data and publicly available materials on markets, trends, companies and new products.
