Deborah joined the CPL team in October 2014 and brings specialist experience in strategic and market analysis of the food and animal feed ingredients markets. In 5 years as a global industry analyst, she specialised in phytonutrients, probiotics and prebiotics. Her work in packaged food encompasses bakery, sodium and sugar reduction and ethnic foods, with >30 publications, including 12 market reports. As lead researcher in a Postdoctoral Food Standards Agency UK project, she assessed plant extracts in inhibiting Campylobacter spp, complementing work on herbs and essential oils during her PhD and also in human satiety projects.
Deborah’s prior consulting experience includes M&A, partner search selection (licensing) and market entry projects, enabling her to bring an adaptable focus to both scientific and market aspects. From Aberdeen University, Deborah was awarded a Degree in Agriculture with Animal Science and an MSc in Animal Nutrition. She gained her PhD in Monogastric Nutrition with Microbiology from Glasgow University in 2005 and strengthens CPL with her unique profile from having worked in industry, academic and market research.
