Objective

The objective of this study was to assist our client’s plans to its market for yeast extract in Europe. The client wanted to understand the ‘market dynamics’ of the European market for yeast extract in food. ‘Market dynamics’ includes the volumes, values, trends, players and competition, customers, key success factors, barriers to entry and a SWOT analysis.

The client wanted to identify the areas within the European yeast extract market in foods that have the greatest market potential and offer it the greatest opportunities for development. It sought advice on how its products and potential fit with the needs of the specific market sectors for premium, non-premium and commodity yeast extracts derived from baker’s yeast.

Method

The study was based initially on sources available to CPL including in-house databases, an extensive network of contacts (the CPL Value-Net) and other publicly available information such as that obtained from annual reports, import/export databases, the trade press, patents scientific literature and technical literature.

~70 contacts within the industry were contacted for this report. Contacts included many of the companies involved in the yeast and yeast extract products businesses, competitors, potential competitors, customers and other industry experts.
