In this case study, a global diversified food ingredients company engaged CPL Business Consultants to look for potential new opportunities in the geriatric (healthy ageing), infant nutrition, antioxidants and natural/clean label food preservation. CPL reviewed the market dynamics for infant and geriatric nutrition and then, after an extensive screening process, recommended 21 potential opportunities.

Objective

The project provided an overview of health ingredient markets and identified potential new opportunities in ingredients for geriatric nutrition and ageing, infant nutrition and antioxidants and also natural food preservation.

Method

The main contents of the study were based on sources available to CPL, including in-house databases and an extensive network of contacts (CPL ValueNet) in addition to public sector information (published, internet etc.). Additionally, information was sought from key contacts within the industries concerned as appropriate.

Contacts were made via email, on the telephone and also face-to-face. Over 350 emails were sent as well as contacts at exhibitions and conferences, and 45 contact reports were transcribed.  Subsequently, after screening out opportunities that were unlikely to be of interest, 21 potential opportunities remained and were included in the final report.
